At Boat Whisperer, we specialize in professional yacht deliveries. With over 30 years of experience and 230,000+ nautical miles at sea, our team ensures safe and efficient transport across the US East Coast, Bahamas, and Caribbean.
We operate along the entire US East Coast during the summer - with a focus on the Chesapeake Bay and New England, and then South Carolina down to Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean in the winters!

My unique upbringing, lifelong boating background, and extensive maritime training, has allowed me to develop exceptional captaining skills - having experienced more boat designs, and more situations due to having substantially more sea time than most other teaching and delivery captains out there! I started my yacht delivery services back in 1993, while studying at Maine Maritime Academy. Experience matters!
As of January 1, 2025, I have captained power and sail vessels over 230,000 nautical miles along the US East coast, Bahamas, Bermuda, and the Caribbean - 7,200 miles of which have been inside the I.C.W. between Norfolk, VA and Tampa, FL.
I specialize in catamaran and monohull sailboats up to 70ft, and have captained and delivered luxury sailing vessels up to 82ft. I am also extremely proficient in handling outboard power vessels up to 40ft and inboard twin screw power vessels up to 70ft in length.
Having worked as an award winning sailing instructor and award winning sailing school owner since 1991, I have become a leader in my industry, consistently being ranked amongst the top 1.5% of American Sailing instructors world-wide since 2008. These teaching skills have transferred over to power boat training since 2002. I have taught over 10,000 students how to sail and handle their powerboats. Numerous clients have referred to me as a “boat whisperer” over the years, and the name stuck!
I use the latest technologies to assist me in making wise navigation decisions, such as Aquamaps with USACE survey data, Bob’s Tracks, and Active Captain, as well as my solid familiarity with Garmin, B&G, Raymarine, Furuno, and Navionics platforms.
Having been fascinated by weather at a young age, I have basically become an amateur meteorologist, with a knack for finding safe and comfortable weather windows for my deliveries using the advanced technologies available today.

- I have been working as a US Sailing and/or American Sailing certified instructor since 1991. Full-time, year round, since 1995.
- In 1998, the Vice President of US Sailing asked me if I would open my first sailing school under his tutelage . That school quickly grew into one of the largest community sailing centers in New England.
- In 2008, I founded Black Rock Sailing School in Boston Harbor. The school earned national recognition as the ASA “Outstanding School of the Year” - every year that the ASA offered the award since opening our doors!
- Since 2008, I have also been consistently ranked within the top 1.5% of American Sailing instructors worldwide.
Professional Yacht Delivery Services Relying On Over Three Decades Of Experience
- As of January 1, 2025, I have over 230,000nm under my keel as captain
- I have completed 36 passages between New England and the Caribbean, most via Bermuda. Two single-handed, and many double handed. 52,000nm offshore, and counting!
- I have completed six passages between Rhode Island and the Exumas. Two single handed.
- I have completed four passages completely inside the I.C.W., between Norfolk, VA and Stuart, FL.
- I have completed nine additional partial runs inside the I.C.W. between Norfolk, VA and Stuart, FL, with many sections sailed outside.
- I have accumulated 180,000nm along the coastal waters of the US East Coast, between Miami, Florida and Bar Harbor, Maine

- I have been a sailboat charter captain on vessels up to 55ft in length in the US, Spanish, and British Virgin Islands since 1995
- I specialize in single and twin engine vessels - both inboard and outboard.
- I have extensive experience aboard a range of Hinckley Talaria Jet Drives, up to 48ft
- I have taught aboard, and have been the captain of an Oyster 82, since 2021.
- I have taught aboard numerous Hylas and Oyster Yachts, 46 to 70ft.
- I have delivered numerous fine yachts, such as numerous Swans up to 65ft, a Wauquiez 55, and Hinckley and Morris up to 48ft.
- I have countless hours teaching aboard and skippering Catalina, Beneteau, Jeanneau, Hunter, Dufour, Morris, Island Packet, X Yacht, J/Boat, Frers, and Tartan, production monohulls, ranging from 30 - 53ft, to name a few.
- I have countless hours teaching aboard and skippering Fountaine Pajot, Lagoon, Excess, Bali, Leopard, and Privilege production catamarans, ranging from 36 to 50ft.
- I have countless hours operating a range of power vessels from 10 to 55ft
